I really admire your consistency, Charlie! You also have a very good grasp on language and grammar, so hold that close. From you I've seen the fruits of the lesson that is getting words on the page and putting yourself out there. Keep it up!

I used to put so much emphasis on beauty in my writing, but as I have gotten older, I realize the best writing I do is when I can tell a story on paper the way I would to a friend in person. I am still pleased when I get some eloquent prose out there, but in general, funny and direct seem to be my style. Here is my latest, where I follow your advice: https://open.substack.com/pub/crinean/p/on-running-a-love-lettter-from-the?r=3ela9t&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

i’m so glad i found your substack! i’m just starting out and i’ve just been writing for myself my whole life, putting it out for the world is insanely nerve-wracking but reading stuff like this is so helpful to see others in the same spot

The hardest part is publishing, I feel you. But it’s better to publish and risk it than never post at all. Keep it up, Claudia!

I started Substack last December, but I stopped as I am struggling to find time to finish my drafts for publishing among my responsibilities at college. I hope to continue soon, but you are an inspiration to keep trying and writing 😊.

Don’t worry Substack will always be here for you when you’re ready. Just never stop writing Aiko!

I started writing on Substack last year February and I have learnt a lot from here.

Indeed, it doesn’t matter the number of subscribers you have, the question is “do they read your work?” Very important!

It's nice to see not everyone is a professional writer. I also only have high school and a little college to thank for my writing skills, but my junior year english teacher was really good. So, there's that. I will take everything you said to heart!

I started just over a year ago, and I am about to cross the 600 subscriber mark this week, so we seem to have similar growth trajectories.

I remember you starting out, and I’ve seen growth in your writing skills over the past year. If that’s not a testament to regularly putting words down, I don’t know what is. Bravo on a great first year!
